Tara Hill occupies a unique place in Irish history. Legend is the king of Ireland was crowned here for over 1000 years-hence the bar’s special moniker. Owner Aisling Crowley hails from County Meath-home of Tara Hill and she and her long-time staff entertain neighborhood regulars, the local college communities and all others with their unique Irish hospitality.
Tara Hill Irish Tavern is located on the Upper West Side and is one of New York City’s oldest Irish bars. As one of the first pubs opened after the abolition of Prohibition in 1934; it originally operated as a chophouse. The bar was one of the first establishments in New York City to serve sushi back in the 1960’s! Eddie Murphy and several Law and Order episodes have been filmed here.
The recently expanded menu, available from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. include favorites like Short Rib-Brisket blend burgers, Shepherd’s Pie, Popcorn Shrimp, Fish and Chips and a variety of wings, salads and nachos. Whiskey flights and our 12 draft beers can be enjoyed while watching soccer, Sunday football or your favorite sports team on our 60 inch TVs. and weekends are always packed. Happy hour every day until 7 p.m. and we don’t stop serving until 4 a.m.!
